The SeaMe app collects de-identified data; however, SeaMe, Inc. is committed to ensuring that all collected data is anonymous (de-identified). This means that any data collected through the SeaMe platform does not collect or contain any personally identifying information from Users. SeaMe is committed to User anonymity and personal data privacy, which is why this disclosure is made up front.
SeaMe is principally focused on persons operating recreational boating vessels including human-powered craft (e.g, kayaks, canoes, and the like), powered-craft (e.g., both power- and sail- boats with motors), and sail-craft (boats using the wind to create movement), the use of SeaMe products typically and anonymously provides mobile data/information "limited to" the: date, time, latitude/longitude, boat speed, altitude, and bearing of your vessel, otherwise known as a track point as well as any generalized/de-identified demographic information the user contributes. SeaMe uses this information for research into recreational boating behavior and especially with respect to better understanding recreational boating accidents.
The SeaMe platform has been developed to de-identify user data on the local device so that identification, i.e., matching tracking points to a mobile device, is only possible with direct access to the Users (personal) mobile device while utilizing the SeaMe app.
